Here we go! Time to get assaulted by Jets fans and haters. It seems as if no one in New York agrees with this trade for Tim Tebow, but it’s very obvious why the deal was made. I will list the reasons why the Jets may be better today than they were PT, (Pre-Tebow)
First off, just because I say the move makes sense, it does not mean I think it was the only right move. I would of rather seen a pass rusher or a wide receiver brought into help Sanchez, but fear not gang green everything will be okay.
The reasons:
1) This locker room is undisciplined and part of the reason is Rex Ryan’s reckless comments and predictions. Rex has promised to not participate in any of that this year, and bringing in Tebow is another step in the correct direction for the team. The Jets need to become humble and with Tebow they have added a positive role model for the rest of the team. The man is a leader and conducts himself the right way.
2) The Jets want to be a ground and pound team. Tebow is the definition of that (he runs harder than Shonn Greene, it’s true). Offensive Coordinator Tony Sparano will find unique ways to use Tebow like he did with absolute crap players in Miami. The Jets are all about running the clock down and playing good defense, I don’t see how Tebow stops them from doing this? If anything, they have further enhanced their ability to push the ball. I thought everyone missed Brad Smith? Well now you got a much better wildcat weapon.
3) SANCHIZE needs COMPETITION! It’s been shown many times in the past. Whenever Rex Ryan did those BS tricks with Mark Brunnell taking snaps – it surprisingly worked! If Mark Sanchez can not man up with Tim Tebow trailing him then he never will. Players have noted that Sanchez is lazy and coddled, well that has changed over night with the introduction of a real threat. Now we will know who Mark Sanchez is, and he can finally show the world on an even bigger stage.
4) MONEY $$$$$$ – Tebow brings in tons of money for the New York Jets. He is an excellent ambassador and will sell tons of jerseys. The stadium will be sold out all season, and more prime time games will come. Can you fault a GM for making money? It’s part of the job as much as we want to ignore that fact as fans.
Overall, it’s clear why Tebow has upside. I know, there is downside, I can’t ignore that. Sanchez could crumble from the boo’s and Tebow chants. The locker room can become more divided, and everything could blow up. Isn’t that what happened in Denver? Was it so bad?… I understand the risks, but in the end the Jets added a solid football player to their team for only a 4th round pick. Get over it. Disagree? Tell me below why.
